The mission of the Boys & Girls Club of Franklin:
AFTER SCHOOL FUN !!!!
THANK YOU TO:
JOHNSON COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION!!!
The Boys & Girls Club of Franklin was awarded a $10,000 grant from the Johnson County Community Foundation to further STEM Education at the Club. We conducted a pilot program this past summer with Sylvan Learning Center and offered a robotics course. We will continue our partnership with Sylvan Learning Center by conducting 2 introductory level robotics courses, Robotics 101 and Robotics 102 and one advanced course, Robotics 201 for the kids that have completed the introductory courses. The goal is to conduct the introductory courses in the fall of 2015 and the advanced course in the winter of 2016. We feel that the consistency of establishing this program will jumpstart STEM activities at the Club and encourage outside partners to volunteer their time. Cummins has already expressed an interest to partner with the Club. We will also be purchasing STEM equipment based on consultation from our volunteer partners to be used once the partnership with Sylvan Learning Center has concluded.
AGAIN…thanks to Johnson County Community Foundation for making this opportunity for the kids possible!
The Boys & Girls Club of Franklin is proud to be a United Way agency.
